High-Speed, Scalable Sensor Readout for Dexterous Robotic Hands via Shift-Register Multiplexing

arXiv

arXiv:2605.01434v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Dexterous robotic hands require high-speed multimodal sensing across many degrees of freedom, yet existing readout architectures often impose trade-offs between sensor count, wiring complexity, and sampling bandwidth. This paper presents a scalable analog sensor readout architecture based on a serial-in parallel-out (SIPO) shift-register principle. The proposed architecture supports versatile integration of heterogeneous analog-output sensors, scalable expansion using only three signal lines between sensor modules, and fast, configurable sampling. We validate the approach on a tendon-driven robotic hand integrating 16 joint sensor modules and one four-channel tactile sensor module, enabling acquisition of 20 sensor channels at a full-scan rate of 1 kHz, with stable operation up to 1.5 kHz. Joint sensor characterization showed a maximum slope absolute percentage error (APE) of 0.446% and sub-degree estimation error, indicating that the

SentryVLA: Uncertainty-Guided Action Selection and State Monitoring for Vision-Language-Action Robotic Control

arXiv

arXiv:2604.16677v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Vision-language-action (VLA) models have emerged as generalist robotic controllers that map visual observations and language instructions to continuous actions. However, pretrained VLAs typically provide limited information about the reliability of their generated actions, making deployment challenging when execution failures must be anticipated. We address this problem by introducing SentryVLA, a lightweight runtime wrapper for frozen VLA policies. At the action level, SentryVLA uses conformalized quantile regression to estimate a calibrated upper bound on the deviation between sampled VLA actions and expert-like behavior under the calibration distribution. The predicted deviation is then used to rank multiple stochastic candidates for action selection. At the execution-monitoring level, SentryVLA applies a Mahalanobis-distance-based anomaly score to the contextualized latent execution state extracted before final action prediction,

AffordSim: A Scalable Data Generator and Benchmark for Affordance-Aware Robotic Manipulation

arXiv

arXiv:2604.11674v3 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Many everyday robot manipulation skills are affordance-dependent, with success determined by whether the robot contacts the functional object region required by the subsequent action. Current simulation data generators obtain contacts from generic grasp estimators or per-object manual contact annotations, but generic estimators rank stable grasps without task semantics and often select contacts that are misaligned with the downstream action, while manual contact annotations must be rewritten for each new object and task. To solve these challenges, we introduce AffordSim, a scalable data generator and benchmark that integrates open-vocabulary 3D affordance prediction into simulation-based trajectory generation. Given a natural-language task description, AffordSim synthesizes a task-relevant scene, emits affordance queries, grounds them on object surfaces, samples region-conditioned grasps, and selects executable candidates with motion

ArrayTac: A Closed-Loop Piezoelectric Tactile Platform for Continuously Tunable Rendering of Shape, Stiffness, and Friction

arXiv

arXiv:2603.13829v3 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Human touch depends on the integration of shape, stiffness, and friction, yet existing tactile displays cannot render these cues together as continuously tunable, high-fidelity signals for intuitive perception. We present ArrayTac, a closed-loop piezoelectric tactile platform that simultaneously renders these three tactile dimensions with continuous tunability on a 4 by 4 actuator array. Each unit integrates a three-stage micro-lever amplifier with end-effector Hall-effect feedback, enabling up to 5 mm displacement, an array refresh rate greater than 500 Hz, and a closed-loop bandwidth of 123 Hz. In psychophysical experiments, naive participants identified three-dimensional shapes and distinguished multiple stiffness and friction levels through touch alone without training. We further demonstrate image-to-touch rendering from an RGB image and remote palpation of a medical-grade breast tumor phantom across a distance of more than 1,000

RoboGene: Diversity-Driven Agentic Task Generation Framework for VLA Pre-training

arXiv

arXiv:2602.16444v3 Announce Type: replace Abstract: The pursuit of general-purpose robotic manipulation is hindered by the scarcity of diverse, real-world interaction data. Unlike large-scale web vision-language data, robotic data collection incurs prohibitive physical costs. The key challenge is thus not merely to collect more robot data, but to obtain informative training data that broadens behavioral coverage across objects, scenes, and skills. Yet automatically curating task proposals to maximize the utility of collected data remains under-explored. We introduce RoboGene, an agentic framework for generating diverse, informative manipulation tasks across single-arm, dual-arm, and mobile robots. RoboGene combines (1) diversity-driven sampling for broad task coverage, (2) agentic self-reflection for task-quality assessment, and (3) human-verified feedback memory for execution-grounded validation and continual refinement. Through quantitative analysis and large-scale real-world experim

FlowHOI: Flow-based Semantics-Grounded Generation of Hand-Object Interactions for Dexterous Robot Manipulation

arXiv

arXiv:2602.13444v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Recent vision-language-action (VLA) models can generate plausible end-effector motions, yet they often fail in long-horizon, contact-rich tasks because the underlying hand-object interaction (HOI) structure is not explicitly represented. An embodiment-agnostic interaction representation that captures this structure would make manipulation behaviors easier to validate and transfer across robots. We propose FlowHOI, a two-stage flow-matching framework that generates semantically grounded, temporally coherent HOI sequences, comprising hand poses, object poses, and hand-object contact states, conditioned on an egocentric observation, a language instruction, and a 3D Gaussian splatting (3DGS) scene reconstruction. We decouple geometry-centric grasping from semantics-centric manipulation, conditioning the latter on compact 3D scene tokens and employing a motion-text alignment loss to semantically ground the generated interactions in both th

UniManip: Open-World Robotic Manipulation via Agentic Operational Graphs

arXiv

arXiv:2602.13086v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Achieving general-purpose robotic manipulation requires robots to bridge high-level semantic intent with low-level physical interaction in unstructured environments. However, zero-shot generalization remains challenging: end-to-end Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models often lack the precision required for long-horizon tasks, while traditional hierarchical planners suffer from semantic rigidity under open-world variations. We present UniManip, a unified framework centered on an Agentic Operational Graph (AOG), an explicit cognitive and operational backbone for task orchestration, state tracking, execution verification, and closed-loop failure recovery. High-level semantic intents are grounded into actionable primitives via a physically grounded scene graph that provides geometric affordances, contact-aware interaction parameters, and collision-free trajectory synthesis. By coupling a high-level Agentic Layer for task orchestration with

DWPP: Dynamic Window Pure Pursuit Considering Velocity and Acceleration Constraints

arXiv

arXiv:2601.15006v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Pure pursuit and its variants are widely used for mobile robot path tracking owing to their simplicity and computational efficiency. However, many conventional approaches do not explicitly account for velocity and acceleration constraints, resulting in discrepancies between commanded and actual velocities that result in overshoot and degraded tracking performance. To address this problem, this paper proposes dynamic window pure pursuit (DWPP), which fundamentally reformulates the command velocity computation process to explicitly incorporate velocity and acceleration constraints. Specifically, DWPP formulates command velocity computation in the velocity space (the $v$-$\omega$ plane) and selects the command velocity as the point within the dynamic window that is closest to the line $\omega = \kappa v$. Experimental results demonstrate that DWPP avoids constraint-violating commands and achieves superior path-tracking accuracy compared

Collaborative Continuum Robots: A Survey from an Automation-System Perspective

arXiv

arXiv:2601.10721v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Continuum robots (CRs), owing to their compact structure, inherent compliance, and flexible deformation, have been widely applied in various fields. By coordinating multiple CRs to form collaborative continuum robots (CCRs), task adaptability, flexibility and load capacity can be further improved, thus offering significant advantages. In recent years, interest in this emerging field has grown steadily within the continuum-robotics community. In this survey, a closed-loop task-execution architecture for CCRs is constructed from an automation-system perspective, clarifying the system-level logic that transforms target-task specifications into multi-CR collaborative execution. Based on this architecture, CCRs are classified into three representative collaboration modes, namely separated collaboration, assistance collaboration, and parallel collaboration. Research progress is then systematically summarized and analyzed in terms of key tec

CRAFT-E: An Interpretable and Editable Neuro-Symbolic Framework for Affordance-Grounded Active Object Retrieval

arXiv

arXiv:2512.04231v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Assistive robots operating in unstructured environments must reason not only about what objects are, but how they can be used, including non-canonical and improvised uses. This requires grounding language-based action queries to objects that afford the requested function, are visually present, and can be physically retrieved. Existing approaches often rely on black-box models, fixed affordance labels, or direct object predictions, limiting transparency and controllability. We introduce CRAFT-E, a modular neuro-symbolic framework that composes an LLM-derived verb-property-object knowledge graph with CLIP-based visual alignment and energy-based grasp reasoning. The system exposes interpretable grounding paths, incorporates grasp feasibility into affordance inference, and supports targeted graph edits without retraining. We also construct a benchmark dataset with unified annotations for verb-object compatibility, segmentation, and grasp

A Shared Control Framework for Mobile Robots with Planning-Level Intention Prediction

arXiv

arXiv:2511.08912v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: In mobile robot shared control, effectively understanding human motion intention is critical for seamless human-robot collaboration. This paper presents a novel shared control framework featuring planning-level intention prediction. A path replanning algorithm is designed to adjust the robot's desired trajectory according to inferred human intentions. To represent future motion intentions, we introduce the concept of an intention domain, which serves as a constraint for path replanning. The intention-domain prediction and path replanning problems are jointly formulated as a Markov Decision Process and solved through deep reinforcement learning. In addition, a Voronoi-based human trajectory generation algorithm is developed, allowing the model to be trained entirely in simulation without human participation or demonstration data. Extensive simulations and real-world user studies demonstrate that the proposed method significantly reduce

Toward Physical Recursive Self-Improvement: A Call for Body-Control Co-Design for Humanoid Robot

arXiv

arXiv:2510.03081v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Humanoid robots, as general-purpose physical agents, must integrate both intelligent control and adaptive morphology to operate effectively in diverse real-world environments. While recent research primarily optimizes control policies for fixed bodies, we advocate body-control co-design as a path toward physical Recursive Self-Improvement (RSI): using experience from a humanoid's current body and policy to guide successive improvements to both. Inspired by biological evolution, this approach enables robots to recursively adapt both their form and behavior to optimize performance within task-specific and resource-constrained contexts. Despite its promise, co-design in humanoid robotics remains a relatively underexplored domain, raising fundamental questions about its feasibility and necessity in achieving true embodied intelligence. To address these challenges, we discuss potential co-design methodologies grounded in strategic explorat

Making Space for Time: The Special Galilean Group and Its Application to Some Robotics Problems

arXiv

arXiv:2409.14276v3 Announce Type: replace Abstract: The special Galilean group, usually denoted SGal(3), is a 10-dimensional Lie group whose important subgroups include the special orthogonal group, the special Euclidean group, and the group of extended poses. We briefly describe SGal(3) and its Lie algebra and show how the group structure supports a unified representation of uncertainty in space and time. Our aim is to highlight the potential usefulness of this group for several robotics problems.

Nonprehensile Robotic Catching Using Virtual Constraints

arXiv

arXiv:2610.35851v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: The problem of nonprehensile robotic catching is addressed using virtual nonholonomic constraints (VNHCs); the motion of the robot end-effector is designed and controlled directly in terms of the states of the object before it is caught on the surface of the end-effector. In contrast to contemporary approaches, our approach avoids the need for object trajectory prediction, and consequent time-varying robot trajectory generation. With a focus on the planar case, we demonstrate that our VNHC approach can be used to catch an object on an end-effector at a desired height, with minimal relative normal velocity at the contact instant. Moreover, the VNHC function depends only on the desired catching height, and the same VNHC can be used for a range of initial conditions. We use model predictive control (MPC) to bring the object and end-effector to rest at a desired location after contact is made. The approach is validated in simulation.

Multi-Objective Reinforcement Learning Using Routed Ensembles and Trajectory Attribution

arXiv

arXiv:2610.35733v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Multi-objective reinforcement learning is a fundamental problem for modern AI, with applications spanning post-training, reasoning models, and robotic control. A central challenge is to learn policies that balance competing objectives, such as helpfulness versus honesty in safety and alignment, or speed versus energy in robotics. The optimal policy can vary sharply with objective-weighting combinations, and the extent of this variation depends crucially on the degree of conflict among objectives, making per-preference policy learning sample-inefficient. In this paper, we introduce objective-conflict coefficients and derive near-optimal regret bounds for online settings using this measure, thereby quantifying the impact of misalignment on learning efficiency. Then, we design routed ensemble policy learning, an algorithm that maintains a small set of basis policies and dynamically routes trajectories to the policy with the highest potenti
